Our Founder
Fair Go Association was founded by Ryan Cooney in 2021 to address the gap in the Northern Territory in affordable and timely Employment Law advice and services.

At just 26 years of age, Ryan has intuition beyond his years and industry knowledge gathered through his vast employment experience and a number of higher education degrees. Ryan graduated from University of Southern Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws and has also completed his Masters in Business Administration, Diploma in Human Resources, and is qualified as a Lead Auditor. Ryan was a nominee for the Inspirational Australians Podcast's Local Legend Award in 2021 and a semi finalist in the 2022 Minister for Youth, Excellence in Youth Leadership Award. Ryan also played a huge part in Kalano Community Association's huge win as the 2021 Northern Territory Community Group of the Year Award.

Ryan started his working career at the age of thirteen and knows what it is like to work his way up through the ranks of a working-class career. Ryan spent seven years in hospitality working his way up from General Service Agent to General Manager of a medium-sized Hospitality Group. Ryan then spent a number of years working with the remote indigenous communities in Katherine, Northern Territory, as the Corporate Services Manager of Kalano Community Association Inc. Ryan also spent time in Katherine working for Roper Gulf Regional Council, before moving to Darwin to work as the Employment Relations Lead with City of Darwin Council.

Ryan is a passionate advocate for change who is dedicated to ensuring that everyone has a voice. Ryan founded Fair Go Association to realise his vision of a Territory where employees could assess free advice and assistance whenever they felt that they were being treated unfair, bullied, harassed or discriminated. Ryan continues to work with Fair Go Association as the primary Business Partner and volunteers his spare time to help those in need.
